One of our primary goals is to provide clients
with design solutions that have proven to be effective - for the
lowest cost. Salix, in coordination with the International
Erosion Control Association and other erosion control specialists
across the country, has developed erosion control Best Management
Practices (BMPs) that are now being used at sites throughout the
United States and Canada. Our involvement in research and
development of Best Available Technologies (BATs) results in better
erosion control design and implementation. We provide erosion
control and watershed restoration technical training sessions
for private and public entities.
John McCullah, owner and president of Salix, is a Certified
Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) since 1988,
and has over 16 years experience in erosion control and watershed
restoration. John has developed "Erosion Draw", a comprehensive
manual of BMP specifications with typical drawings, and also "Bio
Draw", a manual of bioengineering techniques with typical drawings.
He is the instructor of the Watershed Restoration Practicum course
at Shasta College and he teaches professional development and
technical training courses entitled "How To Put the BEST Back
Into Your Best Management Practices" and "Biotechnical Erosion
Control for Slopes and Streambanks." John is also the founder
of the Sacramento Watersheds Action Group (SWAG), a 501 (c) (3)
